Golden Hour Cider was started by Kira and Nicole. We found our way to Denmark and eventually to Møn—an island we quickly came to love. Cider was already a true passion of ours, and with Kira’s solid experience in cider production, building a cidery of our own felt like a natural next step. We planted trees, took on extensive renovation work, and shaped the cidery step by step. From the beginning, we were supported by our families, our friends and many new friends we met on the journey—and without them, Golden Hour Cider would not exist in the way it does today.
Kira is the award-winning cidermaker behind Golden Hour Cider, combining formal cidermaking training with years of professional experience in production and brand-building. Before founding Golden Hour, she co-founded and led Apfelgold in Germany as Head Cidermaker, and also worked in winemaking and juice production — giving her a rare breadth of practical knowledge across the field. Alongside her work in cider, her background in education shapes the way she shares that knowledge:clearly, generously and with real expertise.
Nicole is one of the primary architects of Golden Hour Cider. While her professional life is rooted in academia, she is an essential presence in every part of the company’s creation and growth, and she has been central to building the cider business alongside Kira. From planting the orchard to bottling and labeling late into the day, she has helped shape Golden Hour Cider at every stage.
